Worst days fishing in many years of this excellent beat. River quite high but fishable. Very very cold. Hatch around midday but no takers. One trout about 8oz surrendered itself in sympathy to a down stream nymph

Very cold and wet day - 2 out of season Grayling and 1 trout, all taken on downstream spiders. Rising fish in the afternoon for 30 minutes or so however none taken on dry fly.

Raining, but wind had dropped. One small trout but packed up to head home at lunchtime.

Sunnier day, a bit warmer and more flies but still little surface activity. Three small trout.

Difficult downstream wind, very little surface activity. River clear and slowly dropping. One out of season grayling.

Fished Abernant for 2 days. No fish seen or caught. Disappointing given the conditions. Also an old Oak from the opposite bank has fell victim to the recent storms and is now laid in the head of the main run - Lady Alexandra. Such a shame... Probably good news for fish habitat but not chances of catching on this beat.

River high and fast but fishable no rises only nymphs . He’s work but beautiful .

River gauge was 3’ and falling but still a little high and coloured for fly fishing for Salmon when we arrived…that’ll be my excuse for the day. Gave it my best shot but nothing caught except a small trout.
