First time I have been back in Herefordshire when there has been enough water to fish. Met at beat by otter who was surprised to see me, dived and never seen again. 8 grayling , a couple around 8", the rest 12" to 14" , caught in fits and starts on a GSB and deers hair emergers along length of beat. Forgot wading stick so a bit limited and not as nimble as I used to be.
One Trout 14" when trying klink and dink. Took the klink and had a grayling on dink at same time which came off as I tried to net them both. Was 'joined' at lunchtime by a couple who announced they had been ages trying to find somewhere that they could access the river for a walk and a picnic. Advice that beat was private land and not public access went straight over their heads and did not stop them staying.
Will be back again end of October with wading stick

Got to the spot at about 7am. I sat on the bank at stone catch and watched a few fish jump whilst I had a coffee and setup. I started down the bottom and worked my way up. About halfway up I had a little salmon parr take my PTN. After that I moved up to abernant stream (for some reason skipping out Lady Alexanders Catch). There wasn't much doing on the stream but up at Edw Pool there were some 20 big fish hanging around just above the fast water, their bodies flashing from the sun as they turned on their side to eat. I tried every type of fly I had, flashing them right across their faces 4 or 5 times. They didn't take anything I had to offer though, and after about 90 minutes and 20 flies of trying, I gave up. I guess they were Barbel? Although I didn't think you would find Barbel that far up the river.

After this I headed back down to lady alexander's catch where the fishing is by far the best! On my second cast i hooked onto my first wye fish and first river brown trout! This spot is really great just allowing the fly to drift down the outer seam almost always yielded me a bite. I was fishing a dry fly (can't remember which) but I had a PTN, with a black and copper coil body which was tied onto the dry fly with a uni knot. I hooked two more here that got off and a number more bites. I'm just a beginner and learning so I was over the moon with my one trout although for the more experienced angler I believe there are plenty more fish to be caught here. Excellent beat for the fly!

The what three words location was spot on. Good job because the corrugated shed is overgrown and virtually invisible as a waypoint. Lovely stretch of water/countryside and the easiest access of several beats I have fished recently.
Olive HEN for 2 beautiful, small brownies and a decent Grayling. One to return to I think.

Beautiful day on a lovely stretch of the Wye, all fish caught to across and down methods. Not much surface activity despite a fair amount of fly life in the evening. Thank you!

A very beautiful stretch of the River Wye, and I much appreciated this and the careful maintenance of the riverside with new access paths to add to the experience. Fishing was excellent, despite the lowish water.

River low but fishable. Sporadic hatches in the late afternoon and evening provided two small trout and a grayling to a Parachute Adams (lower half of the beat)

I'm not gonnna lie; the grayling was caught by accident. I was repositioning in the river with the rod over my shoulder, line still out trailing behind me. I felt a tug on the line and a half-pound grayling took the dry fly.

In the shallows lay the remains of the head of a pike. It must have been a monster; the head alone was a foot long.
