A few fish rising throughout the day but the nymphs provided most of the sport in the more oxygenated water. One of the highlights of the day was watching a squirrel swim across the river – not seen that before!

Nice spot. No fish to be seen. Fished hard for 4 hours, tried lots of methods of nymphing and a few dries.
Nothing but a tiny salmon parr.
Stunning none the less

After a cold start, a warm and sunny morning, on a low and clear river. Probably the lowest I have seen this beat. Did not bother with the horrible rocky water at the bottom of the beat, starting in the run below Lady Alexanders Catch; fishing the stream with a Klinkhammer. The odd fish, small Grayling, or so thought I, rising; so I was surprised (gobsmacked more like) when the 21 inch trout came up for my Kinkhammer and set off for Erwood. The first time a river fish has taken me onto the backing and, unless you count fish from the Test and the Avon (which would have been stocked fish), my best ever river Trout. Almost certain it was a wild fish; perhaps Oliver Burch can help me out here, but I am not aware of anyone stocking this section of the Wye.
Grayling a plenty to follow; perhaps not quite the same size as last week's Dowdowlod fish and, unlike last week, a lot of missed rises and long range catch and releases.

Arrived at 8am. Mist on the hills and a chill in the air. Absolutely stunning location.
Started off with French leader in Lady Alexander's catch, managed a solitary grayling from the run just below the faster water. A few rises, so switched to the dry, but no takers.
Made my way up to the top of the beat, managed to lose 2 trout that went airborne in Abernat stream section. After a break, switched to traditional wets, and fished down through Lady Alexander's again. Another 7 grayling, between 6 and 9 inches.
Fantastic day, fantastic setting. Pity I couldn't get the trout to stick.
Also saw a salmon show in the beat below the Stone Catch.

A calm day with just 6" on the WUF Llanstephan guage, so plenty of water accessible on the upper and lower sections of the fishery. Some pale wateries in the morning, some midge, a few Yellow Mays. Sedges also flying around late-afternoon. Some rising fish all day, so stuck to fishing on the top. Had fish on a size 18 HE emerger and size 18 pale HE Duck's Dun. Late afternoon also took fish on a Goran's Sedge variant. Most grayling were from this season's abundant Wye 9-10" year class plus a number of 12-13" fish as well. Most trout <10", apart from a couple of 12-13" fish and 16" 1.5 pounder. Plenty of jagged and long-distance released ladies as well, so a fruitful and busy day all round, also including some time spent gardening. All quiet by 6 p.m.

A quiet start at the bottom end of the beat with a few fish rising, some takes, but nothing caught. Three fish caught early pm at the start of the flats just over half way up the beat, then nothing for a couple of hours. The remainder caught late afternoon, again in the flats. All fish caught on emergers.
Only the first 30 meteres or so of the flats are fishable, the remainder being inaccessible due to excessive undergrowth. In short, only just over half of the beat can be fished.
