Great conditions on the final day of a miserable season resulted in an injury time winner... A 38” hen fish on a red pot belly pig. Fish never left the water, and was returned safe and sound to continue her journey and spawning! We certainly need her gene pool and offspring for future seasons...

No salmon moved or seen, 10” on the LlanS gauge. Lovely beat, good access, reasonable wading. Would like to try again with more water.

Nine grayling to 10” five oos trout to 8”. (Do any anglers use the metric system by the way? Is it an age thing?) on a team of three wet flies with William’s Favourite most effective and an olive bodied partridge not far behind.

Started with heavy nymphs in the main run and took one grayling in the morning. Moved up to the upper run lunchtime and despite cold downstream gusts, the fish were rising and taking our old friend the Grayling Steel Blue. It's a remarkable fly, strangely enough I didn't do well with it last season but this year it seems to be back on form.

Not the best of days for salmon fishing, totally clear sky and blazing sun - not what you expect at the end of September in Wales - but non the less we got the big rods out and had a go. No salmon seen or touched. One beautiful brown trout of about a pound and a quarter, the other 4 wouldn’t have made a pound together. Still, that’s fishin’!

Couple of runs through Lady Alexander's: Water at perfect height of 1'8", nice tinge of colour but no takers. Also no fish seen either. Beautiful warm evening, water @ 13 degrees.
