Another great day on this beat... 15+ BT and 25+ graylings, all fished with long French Leader. Good fly life, but any fish raising. Fish of the day the beautiful WBT in the picture: not for the size (around 1,5 pound) but fat and pretty healthy fish. Safely released

First time fly fishing on a river. 7 trout between 5 and 12 inches all to dry fly—olive and klinkhamer patterns. Really enjoyable day on a lovely beat. Thanks WUF.

Introduced a friend of mine to the slippery slope of fly fishing. Whilst the sun and lack of water made catching hard, it was an easy introduction to wading and casting. We did winkle out 7 wbt, mostly 5"-6" on a range of nymphs. And my mate landed the fish of the day on debut, a pristine 9" brownie.
We had a long lunch on the bank, sipped some river-chilled wine, chatted and gazed at the river, marvelled at the beautiful Wye Valley countryside and soon the lack of rising trout and shoaling grayling seemed not to matter.
My fishing has become quite frenetic over the years but today reminded me that it's so much more than the catch.
Retired to our B&B and evening meal content with one more fisher added to our fraternity.

Clear blue skies, very hot and no wind. River quite low. A few Grayling rise in the morning. No movement after midday. Fished until 5:30pm no takes on any combination after midday. One other person on the beat not sure what they were catching if anything.

Brilliant day. Hot and sunny, steady short rises all day. Caught most fish on dries or the odd spider. Fish of the day a 5lb Chub on a big humpy!

7 Trout, 3 Grayling, 1 Chub, 6 Other
