Managed a small pike first thing however there were signs of them starting to spawn once the day warmed up so I packed up and left them to it. Fingers crossed I’ll be back again next winter.

One bite, a jack of about 7lb early on. Tried multiple spots but very slow going.

We caught 2 Barbel to 7lb & 28 Chub between 2lb & 5lb great day.

Weather was warm for a mid March session. Chub caught using trotting and feeder methods. Lost a good size barbel on middle section of river.

Lovely day for my first trip on this river. Lots of wildlife enjoying the sunshine. Lost a small pike early on but nothing else to report. Just nice being there and I will certainly be back!

Sharp overnight frost combined with a low and clear river level almost certainly contributed to a challenging day.

Nothing...didn't even look like there was fish within a mile of the place. My first time on this beat - and much of it is shallow without much cover....so not a stretch that is going to hold fish in a clear, low cold winter river. Shame really, I'd asked W+U if I could walk the beat the weekend before to check it out....they refused (which struck me as not especially helpful!)...so I took a gamble...and lost. So there's £30 and a day of my life i'm not getting back.
