River up and coloured to create what appeared to be perfect summer barbel conditions, however no-one told the fish and we struggled to eventually catch 6 quality barbel from a mid beat swim. Favoured pegs at top of fishery did not produce; beach peg continues to be very snaggy and must be full of lost leads and swimfeeders!

River was low and clear when we arrived but came up dramatically during the evening despite the bright, clear sky conditions. There must have been some heavy rain in the catchment upstream. We fished opposite the gardens and had 3 Barbel to 8 pounds and some Chub all on a variety of pellet/boilie approach. Really enjoyed our day and will definitely come back to this beat. The farmer is a good bloke and £5 for a return trip to the river is well worth it!

Two rods fished a number of swims at the top of the beat, trying to find the faster water. We took barbel from all swims but it was non consistent. The "beach" swim is very snaggy, we found to avoid the snags it was best to cast up stream into the main pool.
We stayed until last knockings but despite the river looking spot on, we failed to get a bite in the last hour.

A pleasant days fishing at Lower Cannon Bridge. I note there have been several previous reports complaining about the walk to the river. I cannot understand why. It is an easy walk along a farm track to the river itself of approximately 600 yards. The track is neither rutted or muddy. Once on the bank there is a clearly defined path both up and down stream. The path is flat and you can access the well defined swims without the need of a rope. You walk along the edge of fields containing cattle but they are far more interested in grazing than passing anglers!
We fished the upper section of the beat opposite the well known "wall". It was a slow day with only five barbel and two chub between us but that didn't matter as we still had an enjoyable day. Anyone fishing these upper swims should be aware that they are VERY snaggy and you will need to step your tackle up to have any chance of preventing unnecessary fish losses.

It was nice day till 9am when heavy rain started for almost all day. It is long walk. Bigger problem than walking is that you have to go over a field fences to get to best part of the river which is opposite to the garden. Big problem are the bullocks in the first field near the river. Between you and them is only single wire with I guess 12 volts. I had to hide behind the trees and bushes to cross this field, otherwise I think they would attack me, because I could see how they moved and it was not nice feeling. I fished opposite the garden, first 2 chub, then I moved to other swim on the beach at 9am. From that place I caught 3 Barbel, 5lbs, 6lbs 5oz and 8lbs 5oz. Feeder tactic with luncheon meat and halibut pellet. Be ready to lose lot of rigs. Nice place to fish.Thank you

Fished Lower Canon Bridge for the first time, river very low and clear and was hard going all day, only 1 eel and 1 chub caught all day, 1 barbel hooked but managed to cut me off on a rock.
This beat is a very long walk and it is well worth paying the farmer £5 to take you down to the river and bring you back and he was a very nice guy.

The farmers taxi service is a great addition to this very nice beat, but with bright sunshine and low clear river the only bites we had were before 10am and after 4.30pm, all fish caught on 2x 8mm pellets.

River extremely low and clear, weather very hot. 1 chub taken early on the tip in 18 inches of water. After that it was a struggle for even a bite. Tried trotting some corn but nothing doing. Lovely part of the river despite the walk.
