We knew it was going to be a hot one so only set off at 8am. On arrival at 12pm we tried to ring the farmer for a lift but he was working in the field so we walked, it's not as bad as everyone makes out, the father in law forgot his glasses and had to go back to car 15mins each way max. walked the whole stretch baiting up with hemp before starting at top end on gravel bank. D, fishing the Wye for the 1st time and 1st go at river fishing, hooked a nice barbel of about 8lb around 2.30pm, then I got 2 barbel, 6lb and 7lb at 3ish. D caught a nice chub around 3lb then it went went a bit quiet so we moved to bottom end of the beat. 30 mins in each swim we had pre baited and D got another 3lb chub at about 6.30pm. I fished the middle deeper sections till about 8.30pm resulting in 2 barbel, 3 chub and 1 small dace (not hooked but got small crab pellet stuck in mouth). D and D headed back to gravel beach and soon had results. D had 2 nice barbel both around 8lb, whilst D got 2 more chub. We fished till dark but bats kept catching the line. The place was giving us all plenty of bites. We all lost barbel, one straightening the hook. The gravel beach was the only place with any real flow and it is very snaggy buts it's where the fish were. The baits we used were paprika luncheon meat, sausage and hemp soft pellets and spicy sausage hard pellets. This is a great stretch, hard fishing but its meant to be. Great views and some well mannered canoeists. Father in law (60+) is now hooked on river fishing and said the walk is ok even with tackle, it's just people have become lazy with fishing in muddy puddles. The wild, wonderfull river Wye. Thanks WUF, keep the walk, there are plenty of other beats with little walking. Back in September!

Last day ended up the same as day one. D had a chub fist cast then we had nothing for the rest of the day.
To sum it up it is a great location and under the right conditions am sure it would have produced great fishing but once booked you have to take pot luck with the conditions.
Our only complaint is the walk, it is just too much.

Day two - Conditions the same, low and clear very hot. D had three barbel, first about 5lb, the other's both about 7lb had two more on but lost them in snag. These were in about a one hour period between one and two in the afternoon, then nothing. Again caught on elipse pellet.

Day one - Great expectations, very hot, too hot. That walk is just too far, even without the heat.
The Taxi would have been great but could not get him on phone but spoke to him later and he only takes you to the river. Then you still have 3 fields and 3 stiles to cross to get to the top end were the faster water is.
Finally arrived saturated and knackered, water very low and clear. Had a nice chub about 4lb second cast but nothing for rest of day/evening between two of us.
But I must say it is a lovely location and in the right condition would have produced more fish. Main bait used elipse pellet.

Arrived at the river about 9am Friday, not surprised to find that the river was low due to lack of rain over the last weeks or so. We set up in our selected swims, the first fish came along at 2pm, a 81/2lb barbel, caught on pellet and cage feeder. No other fish till 7pm, the first a 7lb barbel then about 1/2hr later another barbel about 5lb,same method a before. Fished up to 9pm, no more fish, packed up. Arrived back at the river at 5am Saturday. We all set up in different swims. Fished all day right up to 7pm, no one had a single bite or knock, very disappointed. 2 of us kept moving from swim to swim hoping to catch something, but no good. The only bite we had was about 7pm, a chub, but it came off the hook before we could land it. After that we called it a day.
We put it down to the lack of fish but over the weekend the river was very low and the weather was very hot. Maybe it will be better another time when the weather is cooler and after a bit of rain.

River low, found the fish in fast water and caught all day had the farmer and his dog take a swim next door and didn't put the fish off. Meat and pellets with swim-feeder. Nice beat, could do with some rain, thanks.

Very nice stretch of the river with a good number of swims, however this is let down by very poor access to the beat. Tenant farmer was very helpful. River was low and fish taken to feeder and pellet.

River low, found it hard to find the fish due to very warm weather. Great place, shame about the trek to get to the beat from the car park. 1 chub, 1 barbel, 4 eels.
