Lovely half day. Let the other rod take the Vanstone first in the afternoon when I arrived while I went up to the Dog Hole. He caught 2 lovely fish. I did have a fish on as well in the Dog Hole on fly but it was not to be.
Really exciting day when you felt you could have a fish at any moment.

Chris Howell caught his first ever salmon from the Vanstone pool. Fresh Fish weighed 11 lbs and took a F/C.
A H lost a fly caught fish at the net from the dog hole.
Mick gave a great introduction to the water.

1 Salmon

A very nice days fishing and also met Mick, who was very helpful with lots of information.

River slightly high, but reasonable clarity. Several fish seen, but declined the fly. The beat looks in excellent condition, due to Mick's hard work and regular management. An enjoyable day.

River rising and wading starting to become difficult. I saw a couple of fish moving, but nothing taking.

Perfect water, fish in almost every pool. Knew I didn't have a chance of a fish without Magic Mick but a lovely day.

Only had half a days fishing, Mick the Ghillie once again put me on the fish in both the Island and Vanstone but no luck. The fish that showed in the Vanstone was very big, I liked to be around when he takes. Once again great day.

1 Pike

River in good condition, running clear. A few fish showed in the Gabion and at the Van Stone.
Fished hard all day to no avail, a few plucks by trout. A limited amount of boat traffic, with few canoes about between 10:00 and 1:00. Good lunch in the "Hosterie" - highly recommended. Until next time...
