Water at good height and falling (Maddox stones wadeable). Saw one fish move but I think it was a resident / kelt. Tried spinner and fly from both banks, but no luck.

A fun day on the Wye and the first time on this beat. It is evident that there has been a lot of work done on the beat. The water was on the high side but it was still possible to wade a lot of the pools. Wading was relatively easy. We saw a fish in The Gabions from the right bank just out from the rock croy on the right bank. Again fishing from the right bank a fish came to a Cascade in The Windmill with a sInk tip line. Another fish came to a Red Flying C in the same pool. Just upstream of the Small shed on the right bank. A great fun day in difficult conditions as it was a rising river and very windy. I will fish this beat again. I can see there being a lot of potential with this beat. Especially, if the bank maintenance continues as it has been. The Ghillie has been hard at work and I think I would use this service in future.

No salmon caught, but one seen dead floating down the river around 6lb it was whole so unsure why dead? Changing weather so not easy to fish with a lot of wind, but a good day had.

First time out this year, optimistic as always but unfortunately didn't find this beat to my liking. Will try further up river next time as season progresses.

Blank. Still pretty high water today, so rather reluctantly opted to spin. Nothing to report except for one very large pike which followed the spoon in to the bank on Corner Tree. It's very nice to see some maintenance done now, so that pools are properly accessible. By the way, there is currently a problem getting into the entrance of the beat. The road from Walford is blocked off, and if you follow the diversion all the way round the block to the Ross side, you come across workmen engaged in digging drainage trenches across the road there. Necessary to negotiate access with these guys or, after working hours, move their "closed" sign aside. This will all be completed in a few days apparently.

Fishing during an eclipse was an experience... even more so when a fish took the fly. Unfortunately, it was one of those on and off moments lasting 10 seconds or so. I would hazard it was a pike rather than a fish by the strength and characteristics of the take, but still an exciting moment.
The water was rather too high for the beat, but a good day out in some welcome sunshine. Good to see some maintenance on the beat in recent times.
