Blank. Worked the beat hard on a day which began with rain, then warm mists and finally blazing sunshine, but no takes. It's amazing how overgrown the top end has become in the last few weeks; take a cutlass or at least a stick to fight your way through the popper weed.

Lovely day, several salmon seen jumping. Two very close by in the Vanstone pool. None caught though. Reasonable number of canoeists but they didn't cause any issues and were all polite. Banks very overgrown towards the top of the beat, not a major issue though.

River was fairly low. Access quite difficult. Some lovely fly water though. I did not see any signs of a fish although I did catch a wild brown trout.

Saturday 3 August 2013 (12 years ago)
Area:Lower Wye
Beat:Goodrich Court
Fishing:Salmon
No. of Anglers:1
No fish caught of any species. Plenty of canoeists though. River was quite low and slow flowing. It became impossible to fish comfortably on Saturday afternoon due to the number of canoeists.
I do sometimes wonder if the fishing beats are ever inspected by The Wye & Usk Foundation as some of the information given is contrary to the actuality of the fishing on arrival or thereafter. I am not specifically talking about this beat either.
WUF note - Unfortunately we cannot continually visit the 180 miles of fishing on offer on a regular basis and rely on anglers feedback to highlight any issues or inaccuracies printed in the beat description and instructions.
