Very cold by the Beacons this Sunday, both wind and water. Water level high and quite dark - clearly recent rains still having an impact. Good days fishing, but nothing caught...
Did see a small hatch around 2pm of dark olives, but no fish rose.

Water temperature still too low, despite sun on part of the beat and an air temp of 11degC.

Short of time - only managed 3 hours due to work. Nothing much happening for 2 and half hours - then things started to pick up. Lost two nice fish in the last 20 minutes before I had to go! Such a shame to have to leave just as the fish came on.
I say I'd come back, and maybe I would but I think the price tag is quite hefty compared to others for the size of the beat. It's always nice to try new beats though.

An afternoon and evening fishing. Water low and clear. Several periods where fish feeding on nymphs but could not seem to interest them in any from my selection. A few takes but no fish to the net.

River quite low (Glanusk gauge on about 3 inches) and slightly coloured, no sign of salmon. Two small trout caught on small nymphs and returned. A quiet day but a very pleasant beat. There is some lovely salmony water and the walkway is a very convenient casting area, but most of this beat is too stony for wading so I think it must come into its own casting from the bank with slightly more water. I looked for the 'white gate' in vain - if it's the gate I think it must be by the parking area, it lost all its paint a long time ago! The banks adjacent to the parking area are extremely overgrown after this warm and damp summer and although you can wriggle down the path to the water (as long as you are not carrying a made-up rod), there appeared to be no way of getting to the upper part of the beat other than a very tricky wade across the river. Access to the bottom two-thirds is far easier along the public footpath than through the gate.

Fished during the afternoon and evening in bright, low sunshine and fairly low water. Not really conducive conditions or timing but easily fished beat with lots of rising trout or grayling. Amazing clouds of flies at times.
