Blanked, although I wanted tof sh spiders and wets and prob werent the conditions for it.

First time fishing the beat. Access good, but wading very tricky with boulders and bedrock, and wouldn't go anywhere near it in coloured water.

After initial mists cleared a beautiful, sharp autumn day on the river. Temperature gradually increased to in the sun and a very sparse hatch provoked some Grayling to rise. No matter, fishing nymph or dry, nothing came to hand.

Didn't spot one rise in the sunless conditions but no excuses, I simply couldn't work things out today. Just one OOS nymph caught trout to report but more importantly, fom my point of view, a very pleasant day wandering around one of my favourite places to be.

River was in good condition, very accessible. Great day despite the single fish.

First of all I would like to thank the lovely Rachel for doing such a wonderful job on the upkeep of the fishery it really is a very nice place to be. What I thought were perfect fishing conditions ie dull cloudy no rain or wind , the fish had different views! I struggled to find or catch tem anywhere. The bottom of the beat is usually a good bet but it was running very slow so it was difficult to fish the way I wanted . Caught a couple in the pool ( 1 on dry ) but this is usually full of fish so I probably spent more time here than I should have done! Anyway it was hard work but fun that's the main thing. Grayling to 13" trout to 10"

Beautiful day, around 13c and clear, water was crystal clear and falling. There were some big caddis hatches throughout the day, all 6 grayling caught on small elk hair caddis or upwing drys, nymphs didn't even get a knock!
Gorgeous beat as well, really well kept.

My first grayling session of the season amongst the beautiful autumnal colours. Lots of fallen leaves, but I managed half dozen grayling to 16", and three OOS trout – all on nymphs. A lovely beat, with plenty of water to go at... the Upper Wye really is a special place to be :)
