Second day on Craig Llyn this week while on holiday. First visit on Monday was all about the nymphs, as a cold wind put an end to any real hatch - although a few sporadic risers were picked off with dry fly. So returned today in warmer conditions hoping for some dry fly sport. Wow wasn't disappointed. After a few trout and grayling were tempted to an olive emerger, thought the code was cracked. That was until the dry fly flats at the lower end erupted in what can only be described as a true spectacle of rising fish. Literally grayling were rising all around me. The olive was being rejected - a quick scan and scoop of the water revealed a carpet of flying ants. Change of fly and what then unfolded was the finest dry fly fishing I have ever experienced. Number and quality of grayling was unreal - best grayling was 50cm. I must have only covered 250m of the river before I decided to leave them to feed in peace having lost count.
Another quality two days on a favourite beat. Many thanks to the owner and WUF for access.
Ps. Sincere apologies to the owner, as when I sat to have my lunch on Monday the chair I first chose gave way and collapsed under me. Sorry.

Wind and rain all day made fishing difficult. Not one rise seen but not surprising given the conditions.
All fish came to the nymph, largest Graying going 18".

Dry day after a couple of wet ones, cloudy and overcast for most of the day. The sun came out in the afternoon prompting a hatch of upswing flies but there was no accompanying rise from the trout. Took two small WBT to a speculative dry fly, and lost one to a nymph in broken water at the end of the day. A good day and to be honest slightly intimidated by the size of the river.

Fished from 1pm till 8.30pm should have stayed a little later as there were quite a few fish rising but a 2 hr journey home. River was up and quite fast flowing so didn't fish far from the bank caught grayling and trout on dry's and a small trout on a nymph and a lot of missed fish
We had the pleasure of meeting Shaun the beat owner who gave us plenty of very good advice, thank you Shaun.
A very beautiful beat will be back very soon, hopefully when A W from Ledbury has dried out after another wild swimming experience!!
