Tough fishing but still enjoyable, barbel fell to ledger and loose fed pellet. Chub on the stick float.
Pheasant in the woods was very protective of a few pegs.

A very enjoyable day, despite being chased out of the woods by a very aggressive pheasant. All barbel were in excess of 6 lb with the largest checking in at 9 lb 9 oz . Conditions were perfect once the cold start warmed up, the river level was good, and the cloud cover appeared.

It was wet and a bit slippery on the bank in the morning so I only fished the swims I knew I could easily access. Very bright, sunny day, water was coloured with a bit of weed coming down but a lovely day's fishing. Regular knocks throughout the day. The largest Barbel was only 4.5lb, but all were beautiful fish. Lost a larger one in a snag so will have to come back here again.....

Oddly quiet for me - obviously not on the fish. Started at a croy in the woods, but very rocky tackle snagging river bed, so moved to 'The Spike', which is a nice even paced glide, with weed. Lots of potential but take a rope and dog spike and its a wild bank, so no space for chair etc.

River in good shape, up about 3 feet from previous morning, good colour and floating debris reducing. Plenty of swims to go at and more available if you are prepared to do a bit of gardening. Anyone paranoid about anglers on the other bank might want to avoid the top half of the stretch. However there is really only one swim that is directly opposite anglers on the other bank. Nice day on the Wye
