Very wet day. Lost 2 caught 3 3, 7 & 8lb. Fished small boilies over pellet & hemp. Would have caught more if the weather would have let up a little, rained solid all day. Had stretch to myself, fished the end crib in the woods section.

Low cloud, mizzle, rain and bright sunshine. A low sluggish river - bites difficult to come by. One small barbel late afternoon during a lull in the onslaught of passing canoes. We have never seen so many! - in the main courteous and careful of our lines but sadly anti-social behaviour from the minority spoils the experience. The quiet spells though are glorious, we watched deer in the cornfield and were delighted when a Kingfisher alighted briefly on my daughters rod.

Another outstanding beat.
Access to some of the swims was a bit steep but I would suggest if anyone struggles a bit getting up and down to the river take some rope with you. The swim just inside the wood is easily accessible though I managed to blank there !
Despite a rather rainy day it was still enjoyable.
The only down side was that I had to get my loppers out to cut back the brambles which would've put nasty scratches down our cars.
We have spent the week at The Falcon House B&B at How Caple
which I always recommend when we have our few days on the Wye. It's central to most parts of the middle Wye. It's very reasonably priced , very friendly hosts and best of all great breakfasts !!

River in good condition and fish obliging. Lots of weed floating down caused a few problems as did some snags. Sweet corn proved to be the best bait
