Been fishing here for 4 years they have made the hill down to the river so unsafe there’s loose gravel it’s like driving on sand there’s no traction I felt sorry for my fishing buddy who’s car we go in,took hell off a beating to get back out,it ruined his fishing as he was worried about the drive back out,he said it’s the last time he will be going there. … totally gutted as we’ve enjoyed the last few years fishing there..

Fishing Passport Note : A report from the owner w/c 17th June 2024 informed us that the track leading down to the river has suffered some damage by efforts to negotiate it . Efforts are underway to repair the track and it’s hoped that this will be done soon. The owner is keeping us updated. (Members and future day tickets were informed last week).

In the meantime, unless you have a 4x4 vehicle it is not advisable to drive down to the river. As ever, your own judgement should be used in all instances. Parking is available at the access gate (but please park without blocking access).

First visit to Thomas Wood fishery and first visit to the river for a long time. Its surroundings, scenery and wildlife had been sorely missed. Within a short time of leaving the car, buzzard, red kite, kingfisher, grey wagtail and chiffchaff had all come to say hello.
River was still coloured from the rain a few days ago. Switching from feeder / pellet to free-lined luncheon meat, together with a roving approach, helped to keep the bites coming. Busy with canoes in the afternoon but most were courteous and capable so no major disruption. Lost three good chub (one at the net) but a very enjoyable day was had.
6 chub to circa 3lb and two barbel to 5lb 4oz graced the net.

2 Barbel, 6 Chub
