River was rising and coloured up when I arrived, the weather was forecast for torrential rain and wind gusts of up to 35mph!! Thought I would chance it in case the forecast was as wrong it wasn’t! Should have stayed at home zero fish caught.

The rain after the dry spell coloured the water making wading difficult.
Horrible squally wind didn't help matters and made it a pretty miserable day.

Nil return today with this stretch of the river being practically unfishable this morning. River levels rose dramatically and coloured up after night time rainfall. These things happen !

Caught 1 stunning large WBT early on, lots rising. Weather and water to hot after 11am so no fishing after that. Lovely beat.

A blissful, highly memorable day on a very scenic beat with forest and mountains. Patchy rises, but some beautiful fish up to 2.5lbs. World class fishing. The river came alive with rises late in the evening, but struggled to match the hatch, so only caught about 2% of the fish covered. The torment of Tantalus.

3 trout caught in very difficult conditions, arrived early and left by 4 pm to hot for me! Water temp was around 15 degrees and fish were rising only once or twice and I struggled to find the right fly the job even after multiple changes. I had success early on mayfly emerger with mayfly coming off then later on size 20 black midge got the other 2. Enjoyable day in the end I will be back at this beautiful beat soon.

As the water temperature reached 20 deg C by lunch time I so stopped fishing. Some rising fish seen under the alder in the shade.
