Fished later on in the day for a couple of hours, I lost a Barbel on the first cast after feeding the swim for an hour, not a knock until I was packing up and the rod went off. Back next year to home farm, it's a wonderful place to wet line lots of great memories for me as well as some stunning fish and wildlife.

The river looked perfect but the fish were not feeding, only one bite all day but that did result in a lovely barbel of just over 9 lbs.

Overcast with a touch of mist. 10 degree air temperature, 11.7 degree water temperature, river down to 1.7m with some colour. All sounds pretty good, doesn't it. Unfortunately our fishy friends didn't think so. We fished 6 swims between the 3 of us, all looking very barbelly in the conditions but it was a struggle. All 4 barbel (biggest 7lb from the bottom end, making the walk worthwhile) ) came in the afternoon. Every hookbait in the bag tried but it was a bit of a frustrating day given how good it looked. Still a day on the Wye....

Arrived to find river had burst its banks just above the bottom carpark, just enough swims for 2 Anglers to fish for a few hours until water came up further & we made a tactical retreat, we did manage to catch 2 Barbel one of which was a Wye PB of 12lb 2oz.
