First time on this beat, would love to see what it looks like under normal river levels, the river was still up but dropping ,the banks were kamikaze after the recent floods,so had to be very careful.Arrived to a very cold foggy morning, which didn’t clear till middle of morning, worked really hard for the 4 chub, chucked the kitchen sink at them but they weren’t having any of it,but that’s fishing, will be back definitely as there looks some really good pegs over the whole stretch.

Weather was clear and sunny at times. Unlike the fishing. The river levels were 3 foot up on summer levels, so the usual swims were unfishable. The water was very coloured.
Scratched about to get what would normally be caught in the first hour during summer.
Great venue, will come again when conditions are hopefully less challenging.

Fabulous day. Caught the river fining down after a big flood, my favourite conditions. Hooked and lost what felt like a sizeable fish in the first 15 minutes to a hook pull and lost one other in the afternoon to a severed hooklink.
Landed 5 barbel, with the largest going a very pleasing 10lb 3oz. The fish were landed on either large halibut pellets or fishy flavoured boilies, with a groundbait mix consisting of various pellet types, crushed up boilies, crushed hemp and fishmeal in a large feeder. Had to work quite hard to keep the fish coming. Each capture seemed to kill the swim completely, necessitating 5 moves through the day. I'd usually expect multiple captures from a swim with heavily coloured water, but you don't always get it your own way!

River at its limits in places and bursting its banks in others. Chucking it down with rain from the moment we got up. Did not fish.

Record reported floods during the day throughout mid, west and northern wales. Very grey, strangely warm and windy but no rain, with the river rising dramatically in just a couple of hours.
Very hard to get a line in and keep it in one spot. Less a case of "where are the fish?" and more a case of "where can I fish?". A couple of small areas of sheltered water but the river was pouring through and very murky. Huge fallen trees and dead sheep were amongst the debris streaming by faster than you could run. Not a nibble....

River very low and clear, weather conditions very warm and pleasant but would have preferred a bit of water on. the access to the river is great you can drive right down to the river, but I would not like to drive up the hill after a bit of rain I would imagine if you don't have a 4x4 you could have problems. Most of our fish were caught from the swims directly down stream of the upper Car Park. All fish caught by minimal feeding and small hooks long hook lengths and small pellets, a good tactic for low clear rivers. Filling it in on the assumption " you cant overfeed on the Wye" didn't work on the swims opposite the Courtfield section

Great spot with easy access. River was slowly dropping and it took a few swim changes to find the fish.
