River looked amazing, bit of colour but not chocolate but ultimately failed to live up to what was expected.
5 barbel and a chub are not to be sniffed at of course and it was enjoyable fishing.
However, it is a long walk from the car to the first swim. And despite being a 20 year Wye veteran, fishable areas were at a premium. I loved it, need to see the banks in winter when they aren't covered in undergrowth to get a better idea of the areas that are fishable.
If you don't like walking or creating a swim this isn't for you. If I had a car this is the only stretch I'd fish purely because it's such hard work!

Fished this beat for the first time. River was a lot slower and deeper than the previous beat, the weather was overcast and a light shower. I was not sure what to expect and I can now see why you can only fish with one rod. Again, large open feeder with a long leader, no.10 barbless hook. My choice of bait was ground bait with pellet casters, spicy hemp and crushed boilies in the feeder and small boilie on the hair. Then the heart-stopping experience started with 3 big barbel well into double figures and I was absolutely shattered. These fish fight like steam trains when hooked. This has been one of my greatest fishing experience days, many thanks to the owners and WUF for this great fishery.

Only fished for 3 hours in the evening to avoid the canoe circus. Two small barbel - one very small indeed at about 10oz - and a decent chub.

River was about a foot up and slightly coloured. Slow going, but a pleasant day regardless.

I had not fished this beat before and it was a pleasure to fish here. The river was very clear with a nice flow to it. A few barbel were caught along with some chub, all to pellet on the feeder. The canoes got a little tedious with little respect to anyone fishing! Many thanks to Don for allowing this stretch to be fished.

Road not good if you are of a nervous disposition, tight hair pin to get to lower car park. We drove to end of camp site and dropped kit before taking car back to car park. Still a long walk to get to beat.
Island Pool is first swim on beat, but not clearly marked and having walked past Courtfield beat, could see no indication of where the beat ended. Probably 90% of the beat is unfishable/cannot access the rivers edge. We fished half way along the beat, between 11 and 7pm and dint have a bite between us despite ringing the changes.
Endured 100+ canoeists throughout the day of varying degrees of disruptive behaviour. One canoe overturned as result of water fight which signalled the start of swimming session.
Natural wildlife was good, with a pair of kingfishers seen several times during the day and even a snake deserted the Home Fishery beat, as it was seen swimming across to the other side of the river. Belting hot day, with river level extremely low.

A great day but very hot. Nothing during the day but 5 barbel to 8lb 4oz (a new PB for me) in the evening from the bottom of the beat in the fast deep water at the Island Pool.

Red hot day. All fish caught in Island Pool on trotted sweet corn, in the morning. Retired at noon for some rest.

Fished 2 days (15th and 16th). 10 fish in all, 5 chub to over 3lb and 5 barbel to 8lb. The fishing was hard as it was very hot and most fish were taken late in day from Island Pool on pellet and groundbait feeder. 3 chub were taken from an open swim at the start of the beat in faster water. There is a lot of water you cannot get to but for our first time on the Wye we had a great time and will be back to fish another beat soon.

Quite a few fish rolling most of the day at the bottom end. The stile needs fixing & a bit of bank clearance would help but there are few swims available! Warm day, no rain, river with a tinge of colour. Good day out, keeps you fit.
