Weather warm and partly cloudy with an annoying down stream breeze.
Arrived around 10am and met someone from the house who told me that there were plenty of fish if I could figure out what they were taking. I confidently replied that I knew just the thing, which turned out to be completely wrong!
I tried everything, and at one stage thought I'd cracked it with a tiny black gnat which got me a take immediately followed by a fish. Unfortunately the rest of them continued turning their noses up at my offerings.
A fun but challenging day on a lovely beat all the same.

The fish were rising at the lower end of the beat, but couldn’t understand what they were taking and tried without success on a variety of dries. There were some hatches during the day which didn’t seem of interest to the Trout. Fished the slightly deeper water half way up the beat with a nymph and had two small fish and two takes.

Tough fishing due to limited river entry points. Caught a decent brown trout about 1.5lbs. Pod of fish rising in the last hour - infuriating!

Sunny day, but wind still in the north. Saw hardly any rises in a morning session, but caught three tiddlers on nymphs. By the evening a lot more fish in evidence, but they weren't taking what I offered them, either nymphs or dry. Caught one more.
