Very sunny. Little activity though a few spinners were around.

2 Trout

Determined nymphing lost two, but an early afternoon hatch of largish dark stonefly (!) brought one kind 14 incher to the surface and thereafter net. Very different from a few weeks earlier where fly and fish were far more in evidence.

Bright sunshine and a high wind for most of the day, so pretty tough going. We managed 3 wbt between us, all taken on nymphs and all safely returned.

Difficult northwest wind. Water clear but levels still well up and flowing strongly. Tough wading in places made for a good work-out! Six brown trout to 13", mostly on nymph. All returned.

First time on this lovely, lovely stretch. Easy to miss turnoff into Ashford House but otherwise good parking and access. Spectacular backdrop of hills. Good variety of water with riffles and pools, easy wading. Lot of water to explore. Sparse fly hatch mainly large olives. Only one fish rising, covered him and he took- beautiful 2 pounder- kept him and stomach wash chock full of snails and small stones- well over a dozen. Couldnt find any other fish with nymphs or emergers. Would love to return

Sun and northerly wind but a few good fish started to show during 90 minutes of March Brown flurries.

First time out this season, and we were met with ideal conditions on this very attractive beat. Sadly, the fish eluded us, and after a long day - trying every method we know - only 1 trout came to the net. Be back in a couple of weeks !

Early Spring river up, but kindly gave up 3 trout to olive nymph, including one 14in golden brown Usk beauty. A number of other heart warming contacts/misses. Good start to season.

A lovely end of season day on this great stretch of water. Shirt sleeve fishing to rising fish. 3 wbt best 1.5 lbs.
