Lovely autumn day on a beautiful river. All fish caught on the large, slow-moving pool at the very bottom of the beat.

Returning to the beat after some 20 years and still as beautiful on a sunny October day with river clear and quite full. Fished dries only and had half a dozen really top quality grayling - best a super 2.5lb. Also bonus out of season trout (2 of which a pound each).

The beat was looking peak in its spendid Autumn colours. Fish caught on french leader, duo and dry fly. Best grayling were 2lb ish taken on sedge emerger pattern. Fish rising in slower waist deep pools. Looked like they were feeding on emerging caddis pupae. Had two encounters with the otters, one of which was a young animal that popped it's head out the water only 2m away to see what I was doing in its pool. Hooked/missed as many fish again as caught - not sure if it was me or the fish having an off day. Either way a magical day on an amazing stretch of river.

River low, caught the grayling on a dry fly, missed takes on the nymph and lost a trout. Beautiful beat.

River was very low but it made rock-hopping all the more easier! Four lovely trout all caught on very small dry flies (we were actually after grayling!) the largest of which was a 2 lb beauty. All caught in the fast water outflowing from some of the salmon pools. A small 6 inch salmon parr also caught on a fly. On leaving the beat, what looked like a submarine creating a huge bow wave, travelled up from the pool just above the weir. We thought it may have been an otter but in fact it was a very large salmon heading upstream!

Water very low but lots of fish on the rise. Trout up to a couple of pounds had on klinks and f-fly. Couple of lumps also taken at pool just above the grandstand on heavy peeping caddis nymphs.
A few grayling also coming up for the dry fly.

A very attractive beat which needs a high level of agility to fish properly , unfortunately the scorching weather was against us as was our lack of agility .
