Great beat, good to be back on the water after recent high water conditions. Lots of tugs to swinging nymphs but only yielded one wbt to hand. No hatch to speak of and only saw one rise all day. Lots of red kites suddenly appeared at around 5ish. Usual regular fly by from Kingfisher and Dippers. Fabulous welcome from Dylan the dog on arrival.

Very clear water. Saw a couple trout jump but couldn't manage to hook any. Had one small one on but it slipped off the hook just as I was about to land it, sadly had to go off for lunch before had a chance hook anything else. Great spot and will definitely return with more time.

The big pools are brown and showing very little fish, all 4 fish came from the smaller gutters and it was hard work tempting them since they were fixated on tiny flies which I couldn’t match, in the end a #22 Greenwells and an # 18 Griffiths did the trick. 2 x 14”, 1 x 13”, 1 x 11”. Lost 3 others.

Cloudy but warm day, with fishing starting at approx 10am after a gentle walk of the beat.
Cracking location, very secluded, but with excellent river access. Water was low and clear, with lots of variety from fast channels and slower deep pools - some so deep they were unfishable.
DB had 2 early trout to a deep heavy tungsten nymph in slow water, followed by a 3rd in similar water further up the beat. SB then proceeded to catch a fingerling in similar water. Fishing moved up to the “gutter” pools, where DB hooked a great fighting trout of approx. 1.5lb (again on a heavy nymph).
Following a brief but well earned lunch, fishing moved to the lower section of the beat. SB took 2 trout in quick succession on a heavy nymph in a lovely mid-paced pool, and missed a snatch at the dry (fishing duo).
As the afternoon passed, DB took another good trout from the deep gutter water, with a token grayling turning up towards the end of the day to take a elk hair emerged pattern towards the top of the beat.
Overall a great days fishing - worth noting that this beat has plenty of water for low water fishing, but much of this may be inaccessible if levels rise...wading is almost exclusively bedrock and hard going even in shallow conditions.

Began at 6.30 am and finished at 3.30 pm. It was a slow hot day with almost no rising fish, the first 3 came within the first hour and all fish caught were small, the largest trout 10” the rest including the grayling around 8” , all were caught on #16 Para Adams despite prospecting the deep water with nymphs. Fish were congregating at the head of the pools. The Irfon was still too high to safely reach the whole river and pushing through quite strongly. 0.47 on the Cilmery scale.

River clear but perhaps a little high (0.53 at Climery) The bedrock is like walking over the tops of slate tiles stacked almost vertically :) Can be challenging and if you are unsure then a stick is advised.
Parking and access great. Clear path along the river but watch the wobbly stile :)
The Glaslyn pool offered the best fishing with easier casting and relatively solid standing, though as the helpful beat description advises, watch for the gravel sliding. It was here we landed our one Grayling just downstream of the pool to a bead head nymph.

River finally at a good fishable level. 0.4 or so on the NRW gauge at Abernant. Couldn't find the grayling!
