Tried french and czech nymphing without success, no fish showing and little fly life. Water a good height and weather overcast so no excuses, just one of those days! Lovely stretch of river, will certainly give a go again in the spring.
Stayed at Caer Beris which was excellent again as usual!

River was still high and a bit coloured from the heavy rain over the weekend, but it was a lovey sunny day and the oak trees on the bank were looking great. Good to be out (with no expectation of catching).

Great to return to this lovely beat. The owner is as friendly as ever and the new bridge across the drainage ditch half-way down the beat is a great improvement. The river seemed very quiet on this beautiful Autumn day and I was pleased to land two decent fish

We fished from 9.30 to 5.30. Plenty of small fish rising but extremely wary and selective. We tried everything but blanked. Beautiful day on the river however.

The Irfon was 0.27m on the Cilmery gauge, very low water conditions and very hard going. Although there was plentiful fly activity there were virtually no sign of fish on the surface. The few rising fish were small and extremely wary. Fish were taking tiny flies and the two 8” trout I took came to a size 22 Greenwells, there was plenty of rejections and downright ignoring of my offerings.
