Water was quite coloured in the forenoon, tried nymphs with no success, afternoon hatches of some Mayfly and some larger black flies (no idea what they were) fish started to raise even with the water colour, caught 4 small trout all on black parachute size 14. Not much bank access to this beat so wading was essential, the water was quite high after the week of rain so wading was deep and quite tricky with the flow. Lovely area. Well worth a visit. (Remember waders).

High river with lots of colour, no luck with nymph. Some fish rising for unknown black flies even with the colour. Took 4 small trout on black parachute. This river is almost impossible and hard to fish without chest waders. Hard wading due to levels and flow. Lovely area.

One of those days! Didn't see a fish and the river seemed 'dead' no fly life, no sign of fish at all. I did find an abandoned rucksack on the bank containing a picnic stove cups and a spool of line. Poachers I suspect . I will forward photo evidence by email

I almost knew it was going to be tough after last night’s rain, but I was eager to see this stretch of the Lugg. As expected the rain left the river a muddy mess but it was good to explore the access and get a feel for this particular beat. I did bring the pup along to offer some company as the fish seemed to not be interested in any offerings to say hello. Towards the late afternoon the water did clear up slightly and insect activity increased with a few smallish brown mayflies, caddis and loads of black midges near the weir. All in all a lovely stretch and I will definitely be back!

Although we didn't catch any fish, we had an enjoyable day fishing upstream and downstream of the Lyepole bridge, in outstandingly beautiful surroundings.
There was very little fly-hatch, apart from a few small olives and only the odd rise in the pool just above the bridge.
I did briefly hook a small trout on a small green/yellow nymph (name not known) and had a snatch on a hare's ear klinkhammer, in the the pool at the first bend above the bridge.

1 x 10in trout on wet fly, black hopper with gold head, caught some way up half way between the bridge and weir after morning rain, trout returned and in good health. Some mixed fly life on the surface later in the day. Not much rising though a trout came up to a small daddy and changed its mind. Saw 3 kingfishers, 1 weasel, and many birds with wag tail and yellow marking flying fast up and down maybe a grey wag tail? Remains of a deer below bridge not sure what happened there!
