River high. 3 grayling on weighted nymphs. Would like to try again when conditions better on this very good stretch of river.

Part of the enjoyment for me is seeing rivers throughout the seasons. Sometimes the fish are easier than others. Today was at the harder end of the spectrum. The two of us fished methodically mainly with short-line nymph tactics. We had a few bites just after first light with one landed and one lost but then nothing until last light when we had four as it was getting dark.
Worth knowing that the parking area is pretty muddy so a bit of planning needed when tackling up.

Passing through heavy rain the day before warned us that fishing might be difficult and so it proved. However, having travelled a long way, we were determined to give it a go. River was rising and already quite coloured when we got there. In the end, using French leaders and nymphs, we managed two grayling from clearer parts of water and enjoyed the day in lovely surroundings.

Very enjoyable day on a nice beat. Grayling up to 1lb caught on nymph flies on sections with drop off to deeper sections.

Apologies for this return being late, I thought it was done.

I only had time to fish upstream of the bridge and this was a very cold day. It took a while to find any grayling, my first 4 fish were OOS trout. Eventually I tried fishing light weight nymphs upstream and managed 6 grayling before the cold got to me and I had to warm up in the car. A great location.

Despite the cold and occasional flurries of snow and sleet, the Lyepole grayling were very obliging today. The fish seemed to be spread out and covering the water paid dividends. Nothing huge today with the biggest around the pound mark.
Most were caught on nymph and heavy bug but a hatch of what looked like LDOs started a small rise at about midday and a few came to a dry. Another surprise was a large salmon parr, around 7".
A great day in what is always a beautiful valley, whatever the time of year. The hot soup at lunchtime was a lifesaver!
