Was in the water for 11.30 and not a touch for an hour then for 3 hours was some quality nymphing. All fish taken in pacey water with trout to 14 inches and grayling to a huge 18+ inches which has given me a p.b. Most of the grayling caught were big 14-16 inches but this one fish was a belter. All fish today were released safely and had to remove a barbed hook from one of the grayling.
Nothing rising to the ldo's that were trickling off during the outbreaks of sunshine. All taking 3mm black tungsten beaded olive nymph size 14. Also a small flurry of grannoms but not many.

Had a few hours nymphing today for the grayling water still quite pacey bottom of the beat but once up by the holiday cottage was much steadier. Out of the grayling 4 were about 5 inches the rest between 14 -18 inches . fish switched on between 2-3pm and then again about 4pm though most came between 2-3pm.. fished duo tungsten beads with a 3.5mm copper bead on point and a 3mm pink bead on dropper all bar two taking the point, the two taking the dropper on the rise..

Weather was cold early on but warmed a little in the sporadic sunshine, which made for a very pleasant day on the high but fish-able Lugg. Two Grayling 9" and a small 5" fish and a 9" Trout all in the middle of the day on grhe nymphs. It was good to be out, as October was our last outing, enjoying our beautiful countryside.

A good day's fishing with the grayling taking almost without exception the Czech nymph on the point. Largest fish about 19 inches with some tiddlers happy to take the size 10 fly.

A nice quiet stretch of river which was running clear. Nothing rising so nymphing was the way forward. This tempted two decent grayling, the largest about 1lb, three wannabee grayling and two brown trout. Not yet managing to make contact with shoaling fish but a good day out all the same.

First time on this lovely beat but unfortunately didn't spend as long as I'd like actually fishing due to work calling me out! Fished upstream for about an hour in the morning and had 2 then fished downstream when I returned for about 2 hours in the afternoon where I had 3. All were a decent size but the amount of leaf/debris made it hard at times! I will return to give it a proper go however!

14 x grayling to 15 inches, 2 x out of season trout to 12 inches. Rained all morning, but sunshine came through about 3 in the afternoon. Pretty hard work, really, still on a very low stream with the bottom covered with slime. Many of the runs too shallow to fish, so worked on the deeper pools. All on heavy nymphs, except for a last fish on the dry fly (Grayling Steel Blue) before finishing.

A wonderful day spent in this magical little valley. Walking along the track to start at the bottom of the beat, the lack of any noise - aside from my footfall - was incredible.
Indeed, the only sounds I heard all day were the occasional kronking call of a pair of ravens echoing off the valley sides, the chiding song of numerous wrens (seemingly mocking some of my more wayward casts) and the soft cursing of the angler, as I made a hash of another approach to a particularly fishy looking run.
That said, a steady number of Grayling came to hand throughout the day, plus an acrobatic 14inch oos Trout. Czech nymphs accounted for all fish, despite half an hour covering a small pod of rising fish in the afternoon hatch.
The majority of the Grayling were in the 12-14 inch bracket, but I am still kicking myself at the loss of a fish well over 2lb that I played for over five minutes, and almost netted twice, before it slipped the hook. I thought I had hooked the bottom to begin with...but then it began to move!
Lyepole really is a stunning beat and never fails to put a smile on the face - thanks WUF.
