3 or 4 fish rising no takes. Difficult access to river from bank so best to get in and wade the river instead of walking the bank.

Challenging beat with access only in a handful of places along the beat, best bet is to stay in the river as much as possible. Stealth was key today with low, clear water (2025 season in a nutshell so far)
Sporadic mayfly coming off all day but fish definitely locked on the sedge flies. 5 fish hooked on an CDC & elk hair caddis landed 2. Once you’re in the river it’s a great little beat with some good fishing to be had.

Arrived at the river early, overcast and around 8degrees, started nymphing and saw few rises, changed to a Klinkhammer I tied recently and caught a lovely WBT, caught 2 more on hares ear nymph. Water was clear, lots of nymphs under stones, lots coming off the water towards mid day. Reasonably accessible beat. KM

First time on this beat. Only fished for an hour and a half and recced the rest. River pretty with some wild life - saw caddis moving about and some weed. Much of the stone was clear but some had slime cover. Euro nymphed and caught a lovely coloured fish about 10" in good condition. Talked to a friendly farmer who said fishing not so good recently and that fencing along the banks had made access to river impossible in places.

I found this stretch to be very overgrown and difficult to wade for a 75 year old. There were a few mayfly about and some fish were rising. Caught one small trout and lost a couple of others, all on a mayfly emerger pattern.

Warm sunny day with few small insect hatches in the afternoon, but no rises. Air and water temperature still cool. 2 WBT taken on nymph (dark olive pheasant tail), plus 1 missed take. Wet-fly trio on droppers with nymph point.
NOTE: Easy access to river, but difficult wading/walking along beat - overgrown with thorns (risk to tear waders).
