a few brownies on dry fly before dusk, a few sea trout heard after dark but no bites

Lovely water to fish. Shame the river is dying so fast, what was once a well know river throughout Europe is now not even mentioned in wales. Thanks NRW for this unwelcome change.

Lovely height, falling from a spate.but sadly, no early Sewin caught or seen.

Nothing caught

Unfortunately I’ve had to head home early as a bit of a problem so didn’t get to fish today. Took a look before I drove home though and looks like a lovely stretch with a few rises around 8am. Very heavy bushes along bank made access a bit difficult but as I knew I wasn’t fishing I probably gave up a bit easy.

We fished the lower pool next to the hut along with two club anglers. They'd landed three by midnight but we still hadn't had any luck. My son switched to a double setup with an intermediate tip and was rewarded on his second cast by a lovely silver 5-6lb hen who put up a good fight.

We carried on fishing but stopped when my son hooked the second of two bats. The first one was killed on the forward cast which was upsetting. The second one, about 30 mins later was badly injured and my son managed to hook himself and get bitten by the bat when he tried to unhook it. We decided to stop as we didn't want to hook any more bats as there were a lot of them flying around us.

The next day was largely taken up by a visit to A&E organising rabies vaccinations for my son.
