River still well up when we arrived; clearing but carrying a lot of autumn debris. Very few fish showing anywhere. We only managed one out of season brown trout between us - a fish of about 12oz in very nice condition. The temperature seemed to drop around lunchtime prior to some light but sustained afternoon rain. It seemed to warm again as the rain eased towards dusk which made the fishing rather more comfortable but, sadly, no more productive. But it is a lovely bit of water and well worth the drive to be there.

Caught single 1 and half lb grayling on scruffy Hare's Ear nymph at bottom (Saw Mill) end of beat. Lovely day and hope to return.

Unfortunately we didn't manage any of the grayling, but did manage 3 out of season brown trout all around the 1lb to 1 1/2lb mark and dropped many, many more. All the fish were safely returned. Fishing small heavy bugs, a heavy weight ptn working well. Thank you for a trouble free and enjoyable day. We will be back soon.

Took a last minute decision to book this lovely beat as the River cam at Rhayader was indicating falling levels and no significant rain had fallen in the previous 36 hours. I'm glad I went, the level was fishable and the water clear.
Four fish to hand, the first a super Grayling at 1 3/4lb Czech nymphing, the other 3 on dry fly on an "O B" Red Tag. 2 x Grayling both over a lb and a pretty out of season BT at about 3/4 lb.
This is indeed a lovely and secluded beat. The wading is however a challenge and I'm glad I took a wading staff, even then I sat down and took water on board!

Slow starting day which picked up late in the afternoon. One very small out of season brownie on a goldhead nymph plus 6 grayling. Smallest grayling around 1lb, biggest pushing 2lb with one lost a fair bit bigger. All grayling caught on dries although very few rises seen throughout the day. Lovely beat despite the sometimes tricky wading!

What a beatiful stretch of water, for years I've driven past the upper Wye & thought one day I will fish there! 2 x grayling and 1 x trout on bugs etc, occassional rises, leaves proved to be a pain. 15lb salmon woke me up at 4.30 head & tailing through the pool at the bottom end of the beat. Can't wait to get back up there!

Was hoping to contact the ladies of the stream but no sign of them all day. Couple of lovely looking pools on the upper beat which I'm sure will hold fish when it gets a bit colder. Very few rises and hard fishing but managed a couple of brownies including 1 of approx 1.5lb on a pink cheque nymph.
Difficult to negotiate the bank side paths in most areas so chest waders a must. Instructions to access the right hand bank of the upper beat a bit confusing as the beat details seem more intent on keeping you away from the white house and garden than actually telling you which way to go.
Nevertheless a lovely secluded stretch of water and I will be back.
