First visit to this beat and water gin clear and looked too low for Salmon. A couple of good grayling amongst some heavy leaf fall.

2 grayling on nymph and one on dry. All returned, size 10-12 in. I then tripped and fell in the river so fishing ceased abruptly. On the bright side - the water was lovely in!

Area:Upper Wye

Beat:Doldowlod

Fishing:All Species (in season)

Fished from about 8.30am to about 4pm when the days rain finally started to quickly swell the river, making it necessary to leave quickly. Fished the lower half only, mainly the `gutter' section. Probably had about a dozen in the end. All grayling except 2 small parr. On a tan klinkhammer and grhe bead nymph, NZ style. Most taken on nymph. Biggest a lovely 16-17 inch (1lb 3/4?) with a couple around 14 inch. Rest 7-9 inch. Plenty of missed bobs and pulls and lost fish early on until I got `my eye in'. A great day to christen my new rod. This is the first time I have used booking system and found service very good and efficient.

Beat:Doldowlod

Fishing:Trout (River)

Eight lovely grayling to 1.5lb all on dry fly. Klinkhamer and olive emerger size 16. Loads of pale wateries hatching off but no interest in my versions of this fly. Later in the day plenty of needle fly coming off but little interest.
A much more intersting beat than Abernant which I fished the day before in high coloured water. Abernant gave similar results in catch numbers with one very nice grayling of 1.75lb but the beat lacked the variety and interest of Doldowlod. No fish killed. Incidentally you are lucky to have such charming ladies in the office, great service and advice.

Hooked & lost one trout approx 10", hooked, landed & released approx 7" brown trout. 1st time on beat, found directions spot on, had difficulty accessing parts of the beat due to overgrown pathways, found the river too deep & current too strong to wade to unaccessable area's. All in all an enjoyable days fishing, outstanding value.

Beautiful stretch of river and plenty of water which was surprisingly clear given the recent rain. Didn't see many fish however and only managed a grayling of just over a pound. I had difficulty with the path on the eastern bank. It seemed to disappear halfway up and had to resort to wading up the river. Loved every minute and will be back but want to know what I'm doing wrong?

1 Trout, 2 Grayling.

While the fishing was hard due to the bright sun we both had a great day on the Wye and two other roving voucher beats that we also tried over the weekend.

We will most definitely be back before the end of the season. Thank you for all your hard work in opening up this wonderful fishing and countryside at a great price!!

First time on this beat and fished from 2pm to about 7pm on what was a very hot afternoon. Water was very low and gin clear. A few fish seen rising but most of them turned out to be very small grayling, did see a few larger fish but they had already seen me.

Flies hatching all afternoon but the only ones I could easily recognise were yellow mays. Didn't find the wading too difficult but the fishing was tough. I managed to catch just one trout a real beauty of 16 inches that took a klinkhammer and missed a couple more my son did slightly better landing another trout of similar size and a grayling just a little smaller both took a weighted nymph all three returned.

A very enjoyable way to spend a hot afternoon.

Only one fish caught all day on GRHE, brown of about 10''. Fish was returned.

May, felt more like January!!!

River very low and painfully clear making fishing tough. Beautiful spot just didn't come together when planned.
