River was low and clear so we were not expecting any bumper catches. We were pleased with the returns given the conditions.

Scraping ice from the car windscreen on a clear sky freezing morning did not fill us with much confidence before heading off to the Creel.We arrived to a glorious early winters day but a very cold river...But much to our surprise we found the obliging Chub feeding and bagged 13 good fish with all the action in the afternoon.Another highlight was noticing a lesser spotted woodpecker resident on the beat which was somewhat unexpected and capped a great day.

Another stunning day on the great river. No barbel or chub despite our best efforts. But an angry pike of about 10-12 pounds nailed my dead bait about mid afternoon to save the blank and duly impress my junior partner in crime. A great looking beat with a lovely variety of water - we will return next summer to attempt to winkle out some whiskered ones.

Beautiful frosty morning on this lovely section of the Wye. My favourite venue by far with the WUF. Clear blue sky, low river and cold clear water, not the best recipe for fishing but perseverance and patience was the order of the day. Didn't have a bite on the feeder during first hour. Switched to waggler. Caught a couple of Grayling trotting maggot then a clonking Brownie over 2lbs. Then I had a little walk down the river, to warm up a bit. Later in the day it clouded over and then I started catching Chub upto 4lb 12oz and even managed a 6lb Barbel, all on the feeder. All fish were in pristine condition. A fabulous day off on a cold day.

One sad note. On walking the bank. One particular peg, the steps, had rubbish all over it , even tucked into the steps - Krill pellet bags, plastic sandwich tubs, Quaver crisp packets, bounty wrapper, plastic Coke bottles etc etc. These were not here on the 24th October when I fished last time, so this was the past week, 25th to the 30th. Shameful behavior. Don't worry I took your rubbish home!

A hard frost the night before followed by a cold, bright and sunny day.
Fished pellets for the entire day however did not get a single bite.

This return is for 3 anglers not 1 as stated. (actually 4 booked but only 3 fished)
A stinking hot day and low water made it a challenge. All the barbel came in the last couple of hours.

10 Barbel, 6 Chub

No barbel due to temperature change I think. but the chub came along in the last hour of light nice beat will be back in the summer months.
