River in good condition, good flow. Slow start, initially fished bottom end boundary area with no luck. Moved to bottom field gate area and had 3 barbel from late morning, moved again in the afternoon to the upstream section after Foy Bridge and had another 3. All fish caught on ledgered pellet/PVA bag method.

Poor choice of swim (first time I'd fished The Creel) resulted in a wasted hour and a half first thing. Moved to below the Church Stream Pool at about 9am. Plenty of signs of fish but it was 10am before the first fish arrived. No more action so another move at about 12 to the upstream end of the beat and a switch of tactics to maggot feeder resulted in 5 chub and two Barbel, including best fish of the day at 9lbs 2oz, and two lost to snags (and a Dace which somehow hooked itself ) Last move of the day was back to the field nearest the footpath back to the church. A swop of tactics back to Pellets resulted in four more Chub and three Barbel to finish the day off nicely.
Water looked "spot on" but the bright warm weather (in fact it was too hot at stages) may have slowed things a bit. The last Barbel was only "hand sized" but a great sign for the future. The rest ranged from 4lbs 12oz to 9lbs 2oz
Great beat with loads of swims to fish, some easy and some more challenging.
Be careful on some of the upstream banks where the undergrowth creates a "false bank" which can catch you out.

This was a damp old day. The Barbel were out to play right from the start. All 11 caught on pellet 10or 14mm,
the biggest was 8lb 4 oz.
Didn't get a bite after 1.00 pm, so headed home 3pm. Another great weekend on the Wye.
The new steps were very useful for an "old man"

Superb days fishing and one we'll remember for a longtime. Good flow with the water a peaty colour. Fished the steps area below the church in the morning, and had 3 barbel. Then went downstream to the far end and fished from a ledge from about 12 lunchtime, and it went hectic after about 1pm when we had another 15 barbel and 2 chub, so walk the whole length and make the most of the venue, as it seems the far downstream end don't see many anglers.
Tried a few boilies but only had one barbel so we switched to hallibut pellets which did the trick along with 4oz feeders full of groundbait.
A great venue well worth the drive and money and as we are both P&DAA water bailiffs it was our our away day to concentrate just on the fishing and what a day it was. We'll be back.

The river rose by about half a meter and the pace increased from mid morning until late afternoon. Most of the fish were caught as the river level was increasing. The best barbel was estimated as 7.08 and all fish were caught using feeder and pellets. Very nice stretch of the Wye with plenty of wildlife to make the day even more interesting.

This was our first time on this stretch of the Wye. The best barbel was 8.07 and all fish were caught on our usual feeder and pellet approach. Very nice stretch with plenty of options of where to fish. Back in two days for another go.
