Great beat with lots of variety of water. Word of warning though - there are lots of very slippery large boulders and fairly powerful flows at points. I had a dip and imagine that I am not the first and won’t be the last. Be careful especially if the river is up a little.

P.s all fish are except for 1 were caught with heavy nymphs in the fast water. The other was on a deer hair emerger - off the surface but also in the fast water rather than the glides. Very little rising all day.

River in good condition and a cloudy day greeted us. Obviously too tempting for the 2 wild swimmers in the pool below the aqueduct, their screams didn't linger long as they felt the water temp. Fish caught on nymphs and spiders despite casting to rising fish during sporadic olive hatches, just couldn't tempt them. Rain and drizzle on and off all day with squally winds, not ideal but have endured worse conditions.

fished from 10.00 till 1.30 no risers seen, so nymph and spider set up. Caught one 11 inches, lost another decent fish which shot behind a boulder, missed one more, lovely few hrs, great fun. Seemed to go quiet when the sun came out my only other excuse is that I'm not good enough .

Absolutely dead ..nothing to report except swimmers and absolutely no access most of one bank that is not correctly marked on map ...it's so overgrown and steep sided down to a deep dangerous margin .this should be re drawn as it's misleading having the parsons fishing hut next to an un fishable spot .also the parking is not good as it is now a wheat field ..so if you go where your told to you can't turn your car round without damaging the field of wheat .

the area by the aquaduct - which looks the best place to fish - appears to be the local swimming pool. People and their dogs were here all day - at one point there was 12 people swimming in the river. I dont really see why i am paying to fish here??
Did catch 2 fish at the downstream end of the beat - so not all bad.
