Bright day, cool upstream breeze. Arrived at mid day, not an easy beat to fish, bedrock and deep pools make it always challenging. A hatch around one o’clock got a few risers but nothing taken. Later afternoon a couple of takes at the lower end of the beat but not landed. Watched a rise in parsons pool around half two, targeted withLDO but no luck, changed to a dun, and after losing a couple of flies in the trees managed to land a lovely WBT of about 1.5lb, half hour later same again further upstream and again a WBT, bit smaller, in lovely condition. A good day on the river, challenging but rewarding.

Water looked good, weather was good, lots of fly life, and a few fish were coming up to the top. It all looked good. Sadly it was not to be - DJ caught the only fish of the day (safely returned), and I blanked. Highlight of the day was me falling in and getting a good soaking.
Still great to get to the River before the end of the Season. We'll be back to get them next year.

Difficult day plenty of fly life but only a lmited amount of surface action. All fish taken on goldheads and unweighted nymphs.

2 brown trout approx 1/2lb each, beautiful fish, one taken on a nymph and the other on a dry. Both fish caught by me, my friend didn't even get a bite, not that it was a competition, but I won!

Water was high, fast and red after Storm Francis so couldn't access most of the beat. No sign of any fish though the water cleared up as the day went on - I'm sure they were there. Also a small hatch of spinners around midday but nothing rising.

A great evening's fly fishing. A little slow to start with but fish taken both upstream and downstream of the aqueduct, a few around 1 1/2 lbs. As for technique, I used a floating line with a slow sink tip, fish were taken on beaded nymphs and wet flies.
Two fish taken
