Quite windy, 15mph at times and over cast with the threat of rain that cleared by mid-day. Downstream nymphing with a single size 16 rose pink beaded grhe was the chosen tactic that yielded three trout. The second one was a stunner, all bejewelled with classic red dots and quite buttery underbelly , a really nice fish at 13". Tried a team of nymphs, beadheads of various colours alongside a selection of spiders but only one tug in two hours. The water was low so stuck to faster moving water. The river needs a flush through as the bedrock is becoming slimy. A lovely beat as always, accompanied by the usual kingfishers, dippers and sand martins (who haven't migrated yet)

Squally rain showers to mid-afternoon, then bright sunshine. Stayed all day but no hatch. No success with nymph in the faster water. A disappointing end to s disappointing season!

River looking lovely with kingfishers, kites and dippers. More water than the last visit but no success on the dry flies. One caught/returned on the nymph in the quicker water at the bottom end of the beat and a larger one on and lost in the same area.

River in quite good condition although on the low side. A few fish rising throughout the day. 4 smallish brown trout taken on dry fly and returned.

4 Trout

Started catching small trout on a downstream nymph as the light faded. Finished up with one nice one of about 1½lbs.

8 Trout

River now back at normal summer level (5” on Brecon gauge). Increased flow has removed blanket weed issue. Bright sunshine, no wind. Little fly hatch, so focussed on nymph in the faster water. Turned a few over but no fish caught. Saw bailiff who reported good hatches at the top of the beat from around 18:00 hrs - but had to leave earlier.

Hmmm - bit of a weird day after three productive days on the Wye - all I caught here was blanket weed - a real shame.

Two other things:
Could you advise the farmer that there's a recently deceased sheep on the right bank near the bottom end of the beat (Pretty much directly opposite the pedestrian gate on the opposite bank.)

I found a very nice new "Twin Peakes flyfishing baseball cap" dropped here or potentially drifted downstream from somewhere - maybe you could canvass users and I can post it on. Possibly drop it in to you tomorrow

Great beat,good variety of water not bad level considering.Will be back in the Spring. Having said all that Oh! the weed.Every cast nymph or dry almost gave up the first hour,stayed on just a lovely beat to fish.
