Fished spiders all morning - not a nibble. Very thin March Brown hatch at 2.00 pm - 3 takes one from a reasonable (possible 3/4 lb) fish but none landed. Lasted 30 mins but not enough fly to turn them on.

7 Brown Trout. Three on the dry (DHE size 14, 16), remainder on heavy nymphs.

Two hatches, one of a smaller fly at 12-1230, which solicited a reasonably enthusiastic response. The second 1400-1430, of a larger fly - LDO type thing, with a few March Browns seen, which solicited a very enthusiastic response.

8 Brown Trout, mostly average/small for the river but one better fish of 16 odd inches... lost at the the net.

All on the nymphs. Little hatch to speak of at all, only a handful of flies seen all day with the cold wind and heavily overcast conditions.

Fish seemed to be shoaled up (?) in the deeper water, catches came in twos or threes each time.
