A final afternoon session of the season. River was 1ft 8" and looked magnificent. Got to the river around 1.30pm, sunray was still on rod from last outing, so gave it a go, and 4th cast in the tail of the rapids it was engulfed by a 9lb fairly clean hen fish. One other salmony pull in the Oaks that didn't stick. Bumped into an old friend who was also fishing, one of the joys of passport waters.

Water good colour and a decent height. River looking wonderful but sadly no fish to report.

One caught on dries small daddies at the end of the day. Others caught on pheasant tail heavy nymphs in fast water.

A beautiful day on a beautiful stretch of river. It's not so lovely for wading however, with an exceptionally slippery coating of algae on the rocks. Studs are absolutely essential.
All fish taken on nymphs with all of the trout caught from the same section of the beat. Grayling about 10 inches, best trout was 14 inches.

It's been 3 years since I came to this beat. It's not my favourite; it gets deep and slow and not ideal for fly-fishing. I had a few takes and landed a couple for small trout, but there was very little activity.
