A few large fish seen at the bottom of deep pools probably feeding on caddis on the rocks. Very bright. Fished from 3-5pm. A couple of rising fish seen in very slow water, but not having any of it. More flow would have helped. Eutrophication evident on the bed of the river some distance downstream of the STW due to low flow and phosphate in the discharge causing algal growth.

River swelling due to rain. Still clear but running faster as day progressed. A few risers but no takers. Hatching of blue dun.

Length : 16 inches.
Very few hatches, so few rises....
2 others lost.
All on the dry fly.

Hard work today, even though the water looked good. Few feeding on the surface, and nothing over 6oz. But nice to be there.

Very low river. No activity until late in the evening.

Bit more overcast than previous day in the morning and a few fish rising but still struggled to get any interest. Tried everything again and managed to tempt 1 Trout approx 8 inches to an Olive Dun off the top in the early evening.

Wont be beaten we will be back to try again.
