V warm sultry evening with no wind at all. Reasonable evening rise and a plethora of biting insects on the wing ! 3 BT caught but further problems with the bull in the access field which saw me having to wade across the river lower down, walk up the opposite bank then back across above the higher limit of his electric fence. The reverse procedure at 11pm after the rise had ended was dicey in the gloaming but less so than risking the bull !!

One rod only fished. Calm, warm evening with late hatch of dark olives. Short frantic period of surface activity late. 6 BT caught & released.

Warm still evening but v little surface action. 1 angler only fished briefly catching a solitary BT. The successful fly (iron blue) of Friday evening was not on the menu tonight. Plenty of bites from midges & horseflies to report though ! On a positive note, managed to find an alternative access route to avoid being gored by the not so friendly bull that nearly got me last night.

One angler only fished , late evening only. Sultry warm evening with light showers. Fair number of fish rising to duns, spinners & emergers. All fish caught on iron blue dun.
Rather grumpy Devon type bull in field on approach to the river. On returning to the car in the gloaming he started pawing the ground, kicking dirt and bellowing which certainly had the desired effect of me giving as wide a berth as possible, given that the access gate was within his fenced area. Hoping he will be rather more civil this evening!!

Seven trout - five on dries, two on nymphs, mostly average size but one better one of 16". Lots of fly life and plenty rising today, but - there's nearly always a but isn't there?! - most of the mayflies were tiny Caenis. Huge clouds of them at times, but also a smattering of other mayflies which were mostly pale wateries, olive uprights and other small olives. Also some yellow sally stoneflies. The fish were highly selective as a result, the fly had to be just right or they would not bite - but that made it interesting and great fun. All but one of the risers came on various small mayfly patterns in size 18 or smaller, and many of the Caenis feeders weren't interested. Some spinners came out later too - the other one took a rusty spinner. Thanks for another lovely day out!

P.S. the Japanese knotweed and Himalyan balsam is spreading really badly now - there was even some Japanese knotweed growing midstream on debris above the waterline, rather worrying for downstream spread.

Evening only (till late). 4 fish up to 17 inches (2lbs) on a size 14 Adams, in the 9 to 10pm evening rise, with most of the fish in the flat water/tailouts.

River refreshed by recent rains raised & slightly coloured. Fish more active on the surface. 3 BT caught several more lost before the net.
