First time on this beat. A lovely bit of water and a nice place to spend the day. Difficult fishing with no sign of much happening. Managed one on a bug fished deep and took one of the top

River was .062m on the Cilmery gauge and clear. No grayling caught, only OOS trout.

First time fishing Colonel's water and had an amazing day. Really nice beat with a good range of water suitable for both dry's and nymphs. Managed to catch my first ever grayling, followed by my second which weighed in at a pound and three quarters, giving a great fight on my light weight euro nymph setup. Unfortunately (can't believe I'm writing this) the beat is full of trout willing to take a nymph. Ended the day with 19 trout and 2 grayling with nearly all the fish taken on nymphs fished euro style. The deeper pools/runs were most productive with a couple of fish caught in the faster riffles. River was .053m on the Cilmery gauge and very clear.

Second of three days fishing the passport waters and a disappointing one. Arrived about 12 and fished until 6. It was cloudy and about 11°c when I arrived, but warmed up and turned into the best afternoon of the week. I couldn't find the fish, I tried dries, spiders, nymphs and weighted nymphs, but in the entire time I was there, only saw about 5 or 6 rises. The river didn't look healthy to be honest. There was a sparse hatch a
of flies during the afternoon, and I did see a single mayfly. Swallows and Martins searched the river most of the afternoon, so you would assume there should be fish, but I had not a single pull or rise or any interest shown.

Cold downstream wind - did not see a rise all day. Several takes on spiders, but only one small grayling netted. Switched to a streamer late on and netted a fine trout c. 1 lb, so left feeling better!

2 hours evening fishing - not a sniff and nothing showing

Very first visit to this beat and WUF directions were on the money. A phone call was necessary to confirm visit. Very muddy as shown and my wadding stick helped to get me to the river. No luck today. Only fished straight line nymphing in all deepest poles. Water was coloured but not too much. Cold wind didn't help. Early finish and pub in Builth Wells to catch the footy.

Only had a couple of hours in the end but no fish caught. River level was good and water clear. I was euro style nymphing.

Parking area has big piles of stone there, I only just managed to park my car off the track and not infront of the gate.
