The river started quite cloudy with silt and didn't get much better during the day but I did have a few pulls - that might have been brownies - and a beautifully spotted 15 inch brown trout that I returned.

Early start due to forecast rain for later. Great beat. At least 7 fish rising just in top pool by lodge. Tricky wading in parts. One 5 inch wbt caught & safely released, One 11 inch wbt kept. Both on nymphs. (If only I could reliably fish the dry...) Torrential rain by 2pm saw us rained off not long after.

A beautiful day, warm and bright. No great hatch but some flies drifting off throughout the day. Fished from 11 to 5 when I had to leave: I guess the evening would have been tremendous had I been able to stay. No sign of trout during the day, not a rise in sight, but the grayling were in evidence. Four caught on a parachute Adams, one nice one at 14 inches and three more around 12 ins. This is a lovely beat with accessible wadeable stretches for the no longer young.

A beautiful day with plenty of sun and light winds. Water was clear and low with wading fairly straightforward for the most part.
Fished from 11am - 7pm. A reasonable trickle of fly life carried on all day but perhaps it was too bright for most of the trout? Grayling were certainly active and sipping on the surface. We had eight between us, the smallest at 6 inches (on a size 12 sedge) and the largest at 15 inches (on a size 20 cdc olive). This was the first time either of us had seen grayling so, unused to the rather delicate takes, we missed at least another dozen. No success on the nymph until we tried it New Zealand stlye, then we saw the takes. Didn't feel a single one, but certainly saw the dry fly dunked.
One lovely 8 inch wbt was caught around 2pm on a cdc olive dun in the margins.
Surface activity died off around 5.30pm but the water seemed to come alive with rises just after 7pm as soon as I'd removed my waders...
All fish caught on cdc olives, cdc sedge, cillabaetis comparadun, soft hackle PTN with and without beadhead, fished upstream.
A lovely day.

Abundance of fly life on glorious day. Good hatches of olives late morning produced rising fish all day - most taken on CDC emergers on bottom beat. Mainly juvenile WBT but splattering of grayling as well (prize catch near 2 pounds).

A beautiful beat to fish. River a good height for this beat 2ft 3inches. 1 salmon lost on a Monkey after a brief scrap on the surface. No other salmon seen, The trout here seem to like the monkey with a number of fish caught during the day up to 1 1/2lbs. A bit of maintanence work here would not go amiss, making some step paths down to some of the pools and the trimming back of some tree. All in all a very enjoyable day's fishing.

Much debate given the weather forecast before we left this morning but the die was cast - no good waiting for all the ducks to line up, we risked the weather. The forecast was correct. Rain - not too bad if it had arrived on its own but it brought a freezing cold howling wind with it. A few hardy trout were rising and 7 succumbed to our decidedly damp dry flies - nice fish 7 - 13 inches, the one best of which was kept. Most of the fish were out of reach on the windward side of the river including a couple of persistent risers just above crocodile rock. One of our number on failing with numerous attempts to cover them from a safe wading depth had to go that bit further out - just about stayed dry but 2 long distance catch and releases were all he got for his bravery! We had to give up at 3 when all our fingers were too cold to tie on another fly.
