Bugged until it got too cold. Saw first and last fly hatch at 12.30. Watched it go undisturbed until lost to view. Lovely day but too cold for me and for the fish!

6 plus my self gathered at Ty Newedd on a glorious autumn day. the river was a little high and fast but perfectly clear.
During the morning session we looked at fishing the slower shallower sections with the duo and a few fish where caught.
Then after an early lunch we got back to the river in time to catch a hatch of LDO that brought about a spell of activity. We spent the afternoon fishing nymphs on a French leader every one was successful in catching a few fish both grayling and the odd OS brownie. It was good to see so many salmon splashing around too, including a couple of very big fish.

Eleven grayling plus five of which weighed over the lb with the best over 1.5lb and four small trout. Everything else caught on fly. Lots of salmon showing. I will probably book the beat in the salmon season next year.

On arrival at the river it was evident the previous nights rain had caused the level to rise significantly, even so there remained a small degree of clarity rather than the hot chocolate colour it could have been! Being reasonably familiar with this beat we decided to persevere despite the booking office advising it would likely be a difficult day. We managed one small OOS trout landed between us which was safely returned but had several other pulls and fish on with a good sized trout being lost in the first half hour. All were taken on small goldhead nymphs very close to the bank. Unfortunately the river height meant that known fish holding spots were inaccessible but considering the conditions at least we had some sport.

Fishing:Salmon

No salmon caught or even seen all day. Water level still high and a bit cloudy so wading access limited. Couldn't reach planks. However, very beautiful beat with plenty of wildlife and, after below-zero temperature and mist to start, a sunny day.
First time on any Booking Office beat, so thanks to support from your staff. Will book again, when water conditions are better for fishing.
PS: quite a bit of H balsam on banks - is this a problem?
