I have longed for a day like today... It was a perfect autumn day, with water at the right height to be able to wade throughout the beat. It's a shame then there are no salmon anymore. I hooked a large fish which I can only think was a salmon, in fast water, and , if it was, it was the first and last I have seen this year.
I think salmon fishing is all but over and there's no sign of any help coming.

I didn't feel confident fishing in this water. Nice lunch at The Wheelwright Arms almost made up for my disappointment.

Awful weather today,torrential rain until about 2 pm . I only fished for about 2 hours but I knew it was pointless. Spent most of the day in the hut watching the river getting higher and dirtier. By the afternoon it was like mud with only 1" visibility !. Caught a tiny grayling early on and a salmon parr.

Trout was from the left hand bank, almost opposite the owner's fishing hut, on a small heavy nymph. The small grayling were from the mouth of Clettwr Brook on a size 20 parachute adams.
