Bright, sunny and hot with low levels/ beautiful conditions. Fished mainly dry fly but also nymphs in deeper runs. Not many fish showing but did rise to well presented flies. Hooked and lost a chub est. 4lb! The largest brownies and grayling caught were around 1.5 lb with smaller fish making up most of the sport.

Caught two decent sized trout on a black gnat and a yellow may dun. Water was a good depth and exceptionally clear, but a great deal of algae making the bottom of the beat incredibly slippy. Looks like there was a run off of farm 'waste' there too (I took photos).

Only the fast oxygenated water produced. Extremely sunny conditions and river level dropping quickly.
Great day though on Czech Nymphs!

This was a cracking day. We concentrated most of our efforts on the lower part of the beat and caught steadily through most of the day. Conditions were helpful: much cooler than of late and helpfully overcast. The rain threatened for lunchtime never came.
Seeing the odd rising fish, we both began with dry flies. Although the fish rose to them, there were really only swirls at the fly and no solid takes. The most successful technique was fishing a team of nymphs and spiders downstream and this accounted for the vast majority of the fish. Most were in good condition although one trout did have some lice. The best grayling was around a pound and the best trout a lovely fish of about a pound and a quarter. This is a really great place to spend a day, especially if the fish are feeling cooperative.

James Harrison caught his first fish, a 1/2lb grayling on an elk hair caddis size 16, just after a lunchtime snooze on the bank!
JH then followed this up with 2 small WBT caught on elk hair caddis as well.
CL tried to catch an elusive salmon. A couple seen jumping over the 48hrs, but they remained elusive....!
Beautiful beat...
