Saw several salmon moving through the Bathing Pool, but did not connect.

Salmon caught at the tail of bathing pool but was lost to a snag. Est 8/9lb

river looked to be in good condition but no fish to report sadly

Conditions near perfect, no sign of any fish about. Having hooked and played a salmon last season on a trout rod with a 4lb tippet !! I shall return until i succeed with the correct tackle.

The river was at a good height and reasonably clear - good fishing conditions.
A c 8lb salmon was caught off the lower ladder close to the end of the beat, and earlier a small grayling.

Water a bit too high today (level with the top of the boards) meaning I couldn't fish some of my favourite spots for grayling. Water colour was good and it did drop about 6" during the day.Fished nymphs under an indicator due to the very strong winds and managed to catch a grayling and a trout , both about 9"

Based on the amount of rain recently, I certainly feel lucky to have managed a day's guiding on the Wye. The gauge was showing a manageable 1.6 in the morning but was rising throughout the day. The three novices I was with caught a dozen or so small grayling between them using spiders and weighted flame-tails on the point – a Williams Favourite was working well in the slightly coloured water. Overall, it was a lovely day on the river amongst the pretty autumnal colours.
