Weather varied from sunny to cloudy to spitting and gusting winds, sporadic rises on the glides, fish caught on nymph suspended under klinkhammer but missed a number of takes and lost a couple on the dry.

With a cold downstream wind and river slightly coloured and swollen by the previous days rain I felt a bit out of my depth (no pun intended). By the middle of the afternoon there was a steady hatch that excited the Flycatchers but not the fish. Just one visible rise all day. When I resorted to fishing down and across with a couple of wets and a heavy nymph on the point I finally had some success. Two beautiful Brown Trout to the net, so I went away fully content. Just being on that beat is a privilege.

Water a bit clearer but still running high, no surface activity, fished mainly nymphs, trying to get deep but the flow of the current made it difficult, struggled to find any fish!
