Several fish seen moving in lower Erwood Pool, including one very large fish estimated at 25lb+.

No fish seen or caught.

High water, all fish on Czech nymph. Mix of mist, rain and sun. Biggest grayling 32cm.

8 Trout, 8 Grayling

Flat calm and and sunny today so I decided to fish dries in the shallow gravely sections. Only the odd rise before I started but they were very keen to come up for my fly!Grayling mostly about 10" couple at 12", trout again tiny. Missed and lost plenty as well.

9 Trout, 18 Grayling

Thought it might be tough going today, flat calm low and crystal clear. Walked down to the bottom of the beat and saw nothing on the way! Fished french leader style in the streamier water around the rocks and caught lots of tiny trout and only a few grayling 9 to 12" (lost one that felt big in one of the pools). Back again tomorrow,change of tactics needed I think!

Most enjoyable day, despite the lack of water. The most successful fly being a Green Diawl Bach retrieved slowly in the shallows.

2 Trout, 4 Grayling

Fished the beat from 9.30am to about 5.00pm. Within those few hours we experienced mist, full bright sunshine, light drizzle and heavy rain. The first hour proved to be most productive with some of the best trout (about a pound) and grayling (maybe three quarters of a pound) coming to flies trundled through the faster broken water. By midday bright sunshine slowed things down before they picked up again in the mid-afternoon drizzle. The heavy rain coloured the water remarkably quickly in the final hour.
Very little in the way of surface activity beyond the acrobatic Salmon and small trout in Erwood Pool. All our fish fell to weighted nymphs and spiders. As many were missed or shook themselves free as came to hand. So it was a pleasant and satisfying way to bid farewell to the 2014 season.

The water was very low. A limited rise happened in the morning and a few small fish rising throughout the day. 20 small trout and grayling caught between us on size 22 cdc f-flies and cdc emergers. Best fish 1/2 lb brown trout. Beautiful day and a few salmon leaping in anticipation of the rain that came in October.
